Please check the Facebook links to see if the listed restaurants are still open, or if they have moved. Covid-19 has been a very difficult time, and the information found in this blog post may unfortunately not be current. To the best of our knowledge, this information is current as of 2/4/2021.

What are our favorite Restaurants in Siem Reap, Cambodia?

As the spiritual epicenter of Southeast Asia, it should come as no surprise that there are countless restaurants for travelers to treat their pallets to – and for great prices! Whether you’re looking for a 100% Australian beef burger or a traditional Khmer curry; an authentic Italian pizza, or maybe an Arabic tajine? There is no shortage of wonderful restaurants to explore, so we decided to feature six of our favorites here:

Il Forno

Jungle Burger Bar & Bistro

Elia Greek Kitchen

Pou Kitchen & Café

Angkor Tacos

The Tajine

NOTE: this post is dinner specific, but you can find breakfast/lunch establishments here.

What is it about these restaurants that you like?

Il Forno

Cozily nested in The Lane off of Pub Street, Il Forno has been serving up authentic Italian cuisine for several years now in Siem Reap, Cambodia. While their wood fired pizzas are an easy – and sizable – option if you’re looking for something easy, their pastas on the other hand should not be taken for granted. All of their noodles are laboriously prepared from scratch, making Il Forno an exceptional choice for any traveler looking to experience the taste of Italia in Temple Town. Also unbeknownst to most, they have additional seating upstairs, which is great if you’re looking for something a little more private.

Jungle Burger Sports Bar & Bistro

Are you into sports and gigantic gourmet burgers that are nearly impossible to fit your mouth around? Would you like a free draft beer, soda, or water with any meal you purchase? Jungle Burger has you covered. This bar and bistro is tucked behind a neon sign and foliage on Road 26, filled wall-to-wall with autographed sports memorabilia. There are a number fo televisions with games on (even in the bathrooms), so if you’re looking for somewhere to catch an event, Jungle Burger is one of the best bets in Siem Reap, Cambodia, especially if you’re into Rugby. Did we mention their burgers are huge?

Elia Greek Kitchen

If you’re finding yourself in need of a vegetable fix, this is our favorite spot. Elia Greek Kitchen’s large Greek salad is easily big enough for two people, packed with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, topped off with a sizable block of feta cheese and bathed in a bed of olive oil. But, Elia Greek Kitchen is not just for the veggie lovers. Their meat platter – with assortments of beef, lamb, and chicken – is large enough for a family of four to share as an appetizer, and it comes with all the necessary sauces, dips, and pita to send the mouths’ of adventurers on a culinary excursion throughout the Aegean Sea. Elia’s fresh squeezed lemonade is never a bad way to wash it all down.

Pou Kitchen & Café

This is an incredibly unique restaurant where Khmer cuisine is commingled with Western dishes, and Khmer dishes stand alone in the sublime light of their own authenticity. It’s hard to pinpoint what exactly it is, but there’s something different – perhaps innovative – about the various curries, sauces, and prohok that meals are served/prepared with. The subtle distinctions in each dish are what make Pou Kitchen a stand out choice for locals, expats, and tourists alike. It’s also owned by notable Khmer chef, Mengly, who – with his staff – always greets and treats his guests with tremendous kindness. Pou Kitchen is a great place for birthdays!

Pou Kitchen is currently reservation only, and owner, Chef Mengly, is traveling around Cambodia. You can contact him directly if you’d like to setup a private event at +855 99 69 9971.

Angkor Tacos

This is truly a special place. Locally owned by a lovely Khmer couple, Angkor Tacos brings great big economical portions of Tex Mex to Temple Town. With their tacos being $2 or less, and their signature burrito less than $5, you can never go wrong – or hungry – when stopping in for something to eat. It’s also worth noting that they make all their tortillas from scratch, and have the most balanced regular margarita we been able to find so far in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Angkor Tacos’ story is pretty cool too, in that they started as a food cart, and literally moved that food cart into their now small restaurant, where they still serve their guests. Simplicity at its finest.

The Tajine

The first of its kind in Siem Reap, Cambodia, The Tajine offers up authentic Arabic cuisine to those in need something a little different. While we’ve gotten takeout from this restaurant plenty of times, the atmosphere of dining in is where it’s at. Filled with rugs and floor seating, guests kick off their sandals and relax in the comfort of pillows at low tables. Whether the plate or a wrap, their chicken shawarma is always an excellent choice. But, as the name of the restaurant itself alludes, any one of their tajines should be a part of anyone’s meal if it’s their first visit, especially if they’ve never had – or heard of a – tajine before. And, yes, their Arabic tea is impressive.
